We provide services in all areas of eyecare - from determining the proper prescription to monitoring the health of your eyes.
A routine eye examination is more than determining the proper eyeglass or contact lens prescription. It encompasses various tests of eye muscles and eye health, as well as determining the proper pair of glasses or contact lenses to enhance the quality of your life. Our eye examination also utilizes computerized optometric equipment to ensure you receive the highest level of care.
Objective tests are performed for determining eye coordination, health status, and whether corrective lenses are necessary. Examinations are performed for those as young as 6 months of age. Our office is wheelchair accessible.
We offer every type of contact lens available: daily disposable, frequent replacement, astigmatism, 30 day extended wear and bifocals, and rigid gas permeables. We can customize a lens to fit almost any patient.
What is a contact lens prescription?
A contact lens prescription consists of many different calculations which not only involves a prescription, but also lens materials, which can affect the health of your eyes.
A contact lens prescription is not the same as a prescription for glasses! In addition to the optical correction of the eye, a contact lens prescription contains detailed information about the design features of the contact lenses, including the specific lens material and fitting parameters. The ultimate goal is for the contact lens wearer to see well, be comfortable, and not harm his/her eyes by wearing the lenses.
The important differences in a contact lens prescription can only be determined through special measurements and evaluation of the eyes for contact lenses. The testing necessary to determine a contact lens prescription is not done as part of a routine eye examination. A thorough diagnostic fitting with contact lenses on the eyes and appropriate follow-up evaluations to determine that the prescribed lenses are optimal for the patient, are required before a contact lens prescription can be finalized. With some patients, lens design modifications may be needed before the practitioner can arrive at a final contact lens prescription.
We hope that this short explanation will help you understand why a spectacle prescription is not the same as a contact lens prescription. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask our staff.
We believe in the use of optometric technology. The auto refractor is a computer-controlled machine used during your eye exam to provide an objective measurement of a your refractive error and prescription for glasses or contact lenses. This is achieved by measuring how light is changed as it enters your eye. The use of the auto refractor provides a quick and easy "second opinion" in determining your prescription.
We treat most eye diseases and eye injuries. Our doctors are certified and have advanced training to prescribe medication to treat conjunctivitis, ocular allergies, iritis, and treat eye emergencies. Eye injuries are treated in a timely and efficient manner to get you immediate relief from any discomfort that you might have.
Do you have dry, red, itchy, burning eyes? Dry Eye Syndrome is very uncomfortable. Fortunately, we have wonderful ways to treat it. Eyes are primarily lubricated by tears produced by tear glands located in your upper eyelids. Natural tears make your eyes feel cool, comfortable, refreshed, and help prevent infection of your eye and eyelids.
Blinking spreads a film of tears across the surface of your eyes. The tears move to the inside region of the eye and through the tear drainage ducts into the nose and throat.
If there are not enough lubricating tears on the surface of your eyes, you may experience dry eye symptoms such as dry, red, itchy, burning or watery eyes, irritation and pain. Tear related problems are the most common medical reason people visit their eye doctor.
Lubricating eye drops may temporarily relieve dry eye symptoms. Five minutes after placement, 80% of eye drops drain away from your eyes down into the nose and throat.
Lacrimal plugs or occlusion can give long term relief. This is a partial blockage of your tear drainage ducts to preserve lubricating natural tears on the surface of the eyes. This procedure may provide you with long-term relief from dry eye symptoms. For many people, lacrimal plugs can reduce or even eliminate the need for lubricating eye drops.
Lacrimal plugs are small and non-dissolvable and may provide long term relief from dry eye symptoms. Doctors Li can insert these plugs in a matter of seconds, during an office visit. After placement, the plugs cannot be seen, won't rub out or scratch your cornea, usually are not felt, and are removable by your doctor.
Worldwide, more than one million people have been treated with dissolvable and non-dissolvable plugs. Join the growing number of people who have chosen this method to relieve their dry eye symptoms. Ask us if you are a good candidate for this procedure.
Are you looking for an alternative to LASIK? Are you afraid of complications from eye surgery? Are you too young to have refractive surgery, but are interested in it's benefits. Well, we've got a great alternative for you.
Can you imagine the joy of waking up in the morning and not having to wear glasses or contact lenses during the day? It would free you up for a host of activities that you may otherwise avoid because of your need to wear glasses or contact lenses.
There is a revolutionary non-surgical contact lens treatment that improves your natural vision in a matter of hours-days-weeks. Your nearsightedness and astigmatism may improve dramatically the next day after your first fitting with Corneal Refractive Therapy.
This non-surgical alternative to lasik surgery is very successful. A patient wears a contact lens to sleep, which gently molds the cornea into an eye with little or no prescription. Upon waking, the lens is removed and clear vision is achieved throughout the waking hours. This FDA approved procedure is an excellent way for children to reverse their prescription.
This marvelous new method of vision improvement is accomplished by applying a series of accelerated contact lenses most often worn over a period of weeks or several months to attain better vision. Corneal Refractive Therapy is safe, effective, and best of all, non-surgical!
